hands down best modern indie shmup. actually no contest. ost is a huge inspiration to me. thank you for making this, i think about it literally every day
I bought this game on Steam; it's one of the great masterpieces of the genre of all time. Congratulations! I hope you can make a port to Nintendo Switch someday; that would be fantastic! Greetings =)!!!!
I assume this is a problem originating from a Steam Deck? If so, try installing Protontricks on the Desktop side, then install the various DirectX libraries into the game that way. Worked for me.
-Trying to play this on a CRT TV but at 240p (or the 0.5x scale menu option) the horizontal pixels aren't scaled correctly. For some reason fullscreen mode has less issues but still isn't 1:1. 480i is fine but no scanlines :(
-Volume control seems to be linear scale instead of logarithmic, so ~15 sounds half as loud as 100. Could also do with a Master volume control.
Wild. The Linux version didn't work because it's openly missing some linked libraries that they forgot to ship, I'm surprised that proton won't auto-figure the need for d3d*, likewise it's frustrating that the PROTON_LOG doesn't scream about this. Regardless, thanks anyway. I had basically given up on getting this running.
I keep clicking play on Green Orange mode and the text in the bottom left changes to Entering: P1 but nothing happens. It says there's a second player as well even though I just want to play singleplayer. :(
What are you pressing to start Green Orange mode? For the record, you will have to press again after selecting the mode to proceed: either Fire 1 (Z on keyboard, A on XInput pad) or Enter/Start.
I was having the same issue with my Xbox One controller. It seemed like somehow the game was using the controller for both the first and second players. For instance, while using the controller it would only let me edit player 2's control settings. I fixed it by going into the control settings and under "gamepad" setting player 2 to "no gamepad".
I absolutely love the game. It might be too much to ask for, but will there be a way to replay or rewatch those certain one-time parts of the game after completing them?
I am battling Depair, but sometimes the games slows down to a crawl and I lose control of the ship. It happens rarely, but it cost me my first clear with the boss, any idea what could be happening?
I just bought a new gaming laptop with Windows 11 pre-installed so I guess many games which relied on older versions of DirectX woudln't have worked without that download. I haven't gamed on a PC in many years after using just consoles for so long. I forgot how much a pain getting things to work right "out of the box" could be when it comes to DirectX and such.
I recommend downloading steam then, it still handles automatic setup of runtime and does it pretty quickly with minimal issues. checking PCGamingWiki can always help to minimize the setup time, they tend to compile all fixes needed to get a game running at peak perfomance
Any chance of getting a Linux build so this can work on Steam Deck? For me it's not working at all, Fatal Error in Vertex Shader compilation. Could be a DirectX issue when running in Proton, I suppose.
Depends heavily on the SBC. If it has an x64 processor, then Linux + Proton would probably work fine. If it has an ARM chip, like a Raspberry Pi, you'd be lost either way. ARM-based SBCs don't run using "normal" Linux. They need special ARM versions of Linux, which themselves need ARM versions of all the software they run. You'd be asking the devs not only for a Linux port, but different Linux builds for different chip architectures. That, or you would need an x86 emulator, like Box86.
Besides, OP was asking about Linux compatibility because of their Steam Deck. That's very much Proton territory.
You still have Box64 and Box86 to run most if not over 90% of 64-bit and 32-bit applications on an ARM CPU. I don't think you understand the versatility of the Linux platform.
Yes, Box86 exists. I mentioned that. If you have a point, I genuinely can't figure out what it is. To reiterate, this comment thread is about Steam Deck compatibility.
Hi! I mostly really like the game but there's a bug that appears to happen in 2-4 where the player can't fire their alt weapons if they do The Bit that happens in this stage? I thought this was just the point at first but then I had another run where I *did* have access to my weapons, so I was unsure what to make of that at first. Either way, not having access to the other weapons makes the boss of that stage a lot harder and also a *lot* less enjoyable. Good game otherwise!

Such a special video game. @system_erasure , thank You for this amazing experience.

love the game. everything about it is great honestly no notes.
If I received through a past bundle does it entitle me to a steam key or do I still need to purchase? I need to buy Void Stranger still to...
Steam keys are not included in bundles.
That is what I figured but wanted to make sure before I purchased on steam. Thank you
Zero Ranger is one of my favorite SHMUPs, right up there with Super Hydorah. It’s the Undertale of SHMUPs.
The GOAT
PEAK! Definitely my game of the year, up there in my top 10 already and I haven't even fully finished it yet
Are the scores in the RESULTS tab only local, or are they actual leaderboards? I assume local, but wanted to confirm.
Scoreboards are local only.
somethings wrong, whenever i try to run the game i get this message. can you please help?
It seems DirectX hasn't been configured properly. Try downloading and installing dxwebsetup.exe from here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35
Hopefully that helps.

This game is amazing and it's so full of love. It is challenging but on White Vanilla it is very very kind to clumsier players like me. I'm in love.
keep going up in the game, like someone keep pressing the arrow up btn.
I fix it by disable x-input detection
Ah man, this is one I'd really want a steam key for... i live for schumps.
This game rules...
I did run into some issues though:

this game fires up again my bullet hell fever! Perfect in every aspect!
Awh, doesn't work, even under Proton-GE on Linux
Sure does—just need to install some required DLL files using protontricks. Specific list in this Reddit thread: https://reddit.com/r/SteamDeck/s/Hu6X0Y9hR6

What about raspberry pi 4? I have a small cabinet that would be great for Zeroranger
Genuinely one of the best games of all time. You owe it to yourself to play it.
Buy the game its my new favorite shoot em up.

I'm having the same issue. Did you find a fix?
I had the same problem. I have a Xbsx controller connected (via bluetooth). Going to the options and switching from XInput to DInput fixed it for me.

One of the best shootemups I have played ever! I love the aesthetic and the music!
Damn this game is sick!

Loved the music and artwork!

I just received the following error after installing this game on Windows and trying to run it....

Is there any work around this?
Any help would be most appreciated.

Runs fine with Proton on my laptop
That's not the same thing. For example let's say I want to run the Game on an SBC. How do I do that reliability without a Linux port?

This one is really good. Worth adding to your library regardless of how many shooters you have.
This might be one of the best games I've ever played.
